Manny Ramirez
Tarrant County Commissioner District 4
Biography
Manny Ramirez has served as Tarrant County Commissioner for Precinct 4 since January 2023, representing nearly 600,000 residents in Northwest Tarrant County. A native Texan born and raised in Fort Worth, Ramirez earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Tarleton State University and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Christian University in 2018. Prior to his role as County Commissioner, he dedicated more than 15 years to the Fort Worth Police Department, serving as a Police Officer, Detective, and Sergeant. His assignments included patrol officer, robbery detective, hostage negotiator, and investigator for the United States Department of Homeland Security National Gang Unit. Most notably, he served as President of the Fort Worth Police Officers Association, an elected position representing more than 1,700 police officers at the local, state, and national levels.
During his tenure as President of the Fort Worth Police Officers Association, Ramirez achieved a landmark accomplishment by successfully negotiating a solution to the city’s $1.6 billion pension shortfall in 2019. This groundbreaking agreement provided a fair and equitable resolution for over 10,000 active and retired public servants with no negative impact to taxpayers, making Fort Worth the only major city in Texas to solve its pension crisis without legislative intervention from Austin. As County Commissioner, Ramirez oversees a $1 billion budget, administers construction and maintenance of more than 160 miles of roads and bridges, and provides leadership on numerous boards including serving as Chairman of the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (appointed by Governor Greg Abbott). He previously served on the Board of Directors for the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles and currently sits on the Regional Transportation Council of the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
