Biography
Charlie Geren has served as the Texas State Representative for District 99 since 2001, representing a portion of Tarrant County. Prior to his legislative career, Geren played an active role in water policy and planning, serving on the Texas Water Development Board from 1994 to 2000 and chairing the Texas Resource Finance Authority for five years. From 1981 to 1990, he worked as a Deputy U.S. Marshal. A Fort Worth native and business leader, Geren is President of Railhead Smokehouse, a local barbecue institution, and serves as Vice President and founding partner of Kelly, Geren & Searcy Commercial Real Estate. He earned his BBA degree from Southern Methodist University.
Throughout his legislative tenure, Geren has focused on fiscal responsibility, property rights, and supporting Texas businesses. His advocacy has earned him numerous recognitions, including the Guardian of Small Business award from the National Federation of Independent Business, induction into the Texas Realtors Association Hall of Fame, and the True Agricultural Champion Award from the Texas Farm Bureau. He currently serves as Chair of the House Administration Committee and is a trustee of Texas Christian University and Vice President of the Southwestern Exposition & Livestock Show. A dedicated community leader, Geren remains actively involved in civic organizations throughout Northwest Tarrant County, where he lives and ranches with his family.
