372nd District Court Judge
Biography
Judge Julie Lugo has presided over the 372nd District Court in Tarrant County since January 2023, following her election in November 2022. A Bedford native, Judge Lugo graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice. She went on to earn her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude. While in law school, she served as an articles editor on the Texas Tech Law Review and as president of the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association, demonstrating early leadership in the legal field.
Prior to taking the bench, Judge Lugo dedicated over 10 years to serving as a Tarrant County Assistant Criminal District Attorney, specializing in protecting the community’s most vulnerable members. She worked in the Family Violence Unit and spent more than two and a half years in the Special Victims Unit, where she served as the Internet Crimes Against Children prosecutor, responsible for prosecuting sexual predators who target children online. Throughout her prosecutorial career, she closed hundreds of criminal cases and participated in over 100 jury trials involving a wide range of crimes. Her commitment to children extends beyond the courtroom, having volunteered with Camp Fire and served as a coach, tutor, mentor, and children’s ministry volunteer throughout the Tarrant County community.
