Biography

Michael Crain brings a strong background in public service, business, and law to his leadership in Fort Worth. He earned a B.A. from Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School, a J.D. from Texas A&M University School of Law, and an M.B.A. from Rutgers Business School. He began his career in government administration and public policy and currently serves as a principal with a local real estate firm, where he applies his legal and business expertise to complex transactions.

A committed conservative leader, Michael is a vocal advocate for limited government, fiscal responsibility, efficient city services, and lower property taxes to keep Fort Worth affordable for families and businesses. During a period of record growth, he has worked to advance economic development, strengthen public safety, support neighborhood revitalization, and promote food security and community health initiatives. On the Fort Worth City Council, his work has included rebuilding trust between residents and city leadership and participating in the selection of Fort Worth’s new police chief.

Michael currently chairs the City Council’s Legislative & Intergovernmental Affairs Committee and serves on the Public Safety and Infrastructure & Growth Committees. He also represents Fort Worth on several regional boards, including the North Central Texas Council of Governments Regional Transportation Committee and Executive Committee, Trinity Metro, and the NAS-JRB Fort Worth Regional Coordinating Committee.

Previously, Michael served as Chief of Staff at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing and in President George W. Bush’s administration. His leadership has been recognized by Fort Worth Texas Magazine as one of the Top 400 Most Influential and as Community Advocate of the Year. Michael and his wife, Joanna, are proud parents of Mackaylee, Mackenzie, and Ainsley and remain deeply committed to strengthening families, neighborhoods, and opportunity in Fort Worth.
