Matti Parker

Mayor Mattie Parker is a native of Hico, Texas, and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (BA in Government) and Texas A&M University School of Law (JD). Before becoming Fort Worth’s 45th mayor in 2021, she served as Chief of Staff to the mayor and city council and was the founding CEO of the nonprofit Fort Worth Cradle to Career and the Tarrant To & Through (T3) Partnership, both focused on advancing equitable education pathways.

As mayor, she’s prioritized public safety—with historic increases to police and firefighter staffing—and established the Good Natured greenspace initiative and her leadership in the Mayors for Parks Coalition, setting a bold goal to add 10,000 acres of open space by 2028.

She’s also advanced workforce and education access through her Mayor’s Council on Education & Workforce and supported maternal and infant health via a coalition of nonprofits and hospital leaders.

She is married to David Parker, a registered lobbyist and director of North Texas Governmental Affairs Operations. The couple has three children—a daughter and two sons—and share a deep commitment to public service, describing this stage of life as their “season of service to our community”
